Damilola, a resident of Lagos, has accused Dave Okorodion, a Lagos-based phone vendor, of absconding after receiving N1.4 million to deliver a phone in March.

Damilola, who wants to be known on a first-name basis, told EQ that she has gone to the bank and got a court order to force Okorodion to either release her funds or the phone she paid for, but nothing positive has happened.

She said that she contacted Okorodion in March for an iPhone 14 Pro max with 256 gigabytes of storage for a friend. Damilola said he told her the selling price was N1.4 million, which she didn’t haggle but paid in two tranches.

“I could not send all the money at once, so I sent it twice on the same day. He confirmed the first payment before I sent the second one, but he has not been reachable since then,” Damilola told EQ.

Damilola told EQ that she had always known Okorodion and considered him a trusted vendor.

According to her, Okorodion delivered and maintained gadgets at her former workplace.

“He sold my current phone and personal laptop to me. I used to pay him after delivery all the times he delivered gadgets to me, but I didn’t do that this time,” she said.

EQ called Okorodion on Tuesday, and his number rang three times, but he did not take his calls.

A text message followed the calls, but after 24 hours, he had not responded.

EQ attempted to contact Okorodion via Instagram but his account is locked.
