Funke Morakinyo, a single mother living in Alagbado, Lagos State, has narrated how tired and frustrated she has become trying to get her N360,000 from Zenith Bank and Access Bank since April 2021, when it mysteriously disappeared from her account.

She told FIJ on Wednesday that she went to the Kola area on April 9, 2021, to withdraw from an Access Bank ATM, but the machine swallowed her card immediately after she inserted it.

“And while I stood there contemplating my next move, I began to receive debit alerts until it amounted to N360,000. The event happened so fast that I watched it unfold as though I were not the victim of the mysterious cash disappearance,” Morakinyo told FIJ.

“When I got to Access Bank the next Monday, they said they could not find my ATM card. They promised to do something about it. It’s been over three years; it doesn’t seem like they are doing anything. After some time, they directed me to my bank (Zenith).”

She said that when she visited a Zenith Bank branch at Ijaiye, they asked her to write a letter, which she did.

“But after doing everything they asked me to do, my money didn’t come out,” she said.

When FIJ emailed Access Bank for comments on the matter, a respondent asked FIJ to tell the source to contact them for further assistance.

Zenith Bank told FIJ in an email that the source should report the matter to them — something she has done several times.
