The Nigeria Police Force has yet to name a policeman who killed Ifeoluwa Adekalu, an Ekiti resident, when he fired a bullet that hit her on Thursday.
EQ gathered that the officer fired his gun at the Okela Police Station in Ekiti on Thursday while he was celebrating a colleague’s promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.
Adekalu, who was also a nursing mother, was said to be in a shop opposite the police station where the bullet was fired. The victim was said to have been returning from where she went to pay for a new apartment’s rent.

“The victim was passing by when the bullet hit her in front of a shop opposite the police station. She was said to be returning from where she went to pay her accommodation rent.”

When EQ called Adewale Adeniran, the spokesperson of the Ekiti State Police Command, on Saturday for comments on the officer’s misconduct and Adekalu’s death, his number was unavailable.
A text message sent to him has also not been responded to at press time.
EQ reported in June how Inspector Nura Ahmed, an officer attached to the Kebbi State Police Command, killed 20-year-old Ahmed Ibrahim in a trigger-happy moment and attempted to cover it up.
