Lagospedia, the pro-Lagos handle that vanished in August after it was blasted for spreading anti-Igbo hate on X, has returned under a new name — Lagospidia.
EQ has confirmed that Lagospedia never truly left X, and it continues to spread anti-Igbo sentiments on the everything app.
In July, EQ reported how the page, which claimed to be “proclaiming the virtues of Lagos” had been publishing hateful comments against the Igbo ethnic group. It also clamoured for Igbos to be forced out of the southwest region.
Days leading to the August 1–10 nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest, @Lagospedia claimed that the demonstration was an Igbo-led attack on Lagos State. It then called on the Yorubas in the southwest region to protest against Igbos living in the region.

After EQ went public with its findings, the state government distanced itself from the handle and its published content even though some of the political appointees of Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu were following the page.
Then the account was deactivated on X. However, EQ found that the handler only altered the page from ‘Lagospedia’ to ‘Lagospidia’.
The old handle had over 41,700 followers in July before its deactivation. Interestingly, the new one (@Lagospidia) now has over 41,600 followers. It joined X in December 2015, and its bio reads: “Lagos for Lagosians, we must protect Lagos!”
The new handle. @lagospidia
Just like the previous handle, the posts and reposts from @Lagospidia are largely filled with hate speech against the Igbos and tribal rage-baiting content.
The handle also latched on to a post shared on X on Monday by Wale Ajetunmobi, one of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s special assistants, announcing that 99 per cent of kidnappers in a state were Igbo.

An EQ analysis in August, after the handle was deactivated, concluded that the handler of @Lagospedia would likely go scot-free even though precedent suggested that security agencies could identify and arrest anyone deemed a threat if they wanted to.
As rightly predicted, the handler was never apprehended despite Sanwo-Olu’s rejection of the account’s activities on paper.
