Air Peace, a Nigerian commercial airline, has paid N310,000 to Kehinde Adegboyega, a human rights activist and journalist whose refund was withheld for three months.
Adegboyega informed FIJ of the refund on Tuesday, only five days after FIJ shared his situation in a report.
He, however, said that he hoped the airline would pay more attention to their customers.
Adegboyega explained that while he might have now received his refund, he was forced to miss an important work meeting.

“Thank you, FIJ. Air Peace just paid my refund a few minutes ago,” Adegboyega said.
“I hope Air Peace pays more attention to their customers. Three months to get a refund for a flight you cancelled is too much. The regulator needs to be on top of the aviation industry, even though I eventually got my refund. I missed an important work meeting.”

On receiving N310,000 instead of the projected N365,000 he expected from the airline, he said, “They must have done some deductions that were not disclosed.”

On Thursday, FIJ reported how Adegboyega had been struggling to get a ticket payment refund from the airline three months after they cancelled his flight.
The Lagos resident had had the ticket reserved for him in May but he could not make the trip. In October when he was ready to use it, Air Peace asked that he reopen it with N65,000 which he did.
Unfortunately, the airline cancelled the flight only two hours before takeoff. When he contacted the airline on how to get a refund, the representatives did not provide a response.
When FIJ also contacted the airline for a reaction via email on Wednesday, there was no response, until they later issued Adegboyega a refund on Tuesday.
